Time is running out and things will only get worse in the days ahead. The signs of the times are there for us to see but are we spiritually awake enough to really see them? Watch this six minute video here.

About the Author:

In 1986, Kathy Gallagher helped her husband Steve found Pure Life Ministries, a ministry for men struggling with habitual sexual sin. Kathy soon found herself spending countless hours ministering to the hurting wives of these men, pointing them to Jesus and giving them hope through the very answers that worked for her. Each year hundreds of wives receive counseling through the counseling program she initiated for them years ago. Today, she administrates and produces video clips for the Eternal Weight website.

This is such a powerful and appropriate message for this time because the Word of God is under great attack from within the professing church itself. Not only must we immerse ourselves in the Word of God every day, but we must also ask God to help us understand the Spirit of the law and how to live by it, and not destroy ourselves and our fellow brethren with the letter of the law.

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.”
    (2 Corinthians 3:5-9)

I believe that there is a time left where the true word of God will be preached and taught, but I also see a time coming in which the perversion of the Word itself from within will be present at a level never seen before in the history of the church. So, I believe it is imperative for us to understand and walk in the Spirit of the Word now while there is still time to do so. One of Jesus’ quotes sticks out at me:

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. ”
    (John 9:4)

Thank you Steve for this very important, timely message.

Your comments are a blessing, Nathan. We must work while it is still day and also remember (I have to remind myself continually) that God still has His “7000 that have not bowed to the Baals.” For God, who said, “ Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

I’m grateful that there is still time to proclaim His excellent greatness.

Another scripture and story came to mind after I thought about this word some more and it is found in 1 Samuel 3:1:

“And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.”
    (1 Samuel 3:1)

If you remember the story of Eli and his wicked sons in this chapter it shows that even Eli the priest was not really seeking the Lord or dealing with the iniquity of his sons. Later in the chapter when Samuel told Eli all that the Lord had spoke unto him, Eli seemed totally unmoved and said let the Lord do what seems good unto him. No repentance! As you know later in chapter 4 both Eli and his sons died.

My point in bringing up this story is found in the first verse of 1 Samuel 3. It says that in those days because of the wickedness going on that the word of the Lord was “precious”. In the Hebrew that word precious means “rare” or “valuable’, “costly”, “to be prized”. I believe we are entering into times where the true Word of God itself will indeed be rare and precious. The second part of that scripture says there was no “open vision’ in those days. In the Hebrew this means there was no open revelation or sight of the word of the Lord. In other words, the word of the Lord almost seemed veiled or hidden from the nation of Israel in those days. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Kind of like this time period that we live in now.

I do believe that those who store up God’s Word in their hearts now will be like Joseph was in Egypt during his time, where people from all of the nations around Egypt came to get grain from Egypt when the famine came. Joseph had the foresight to gather up the grain to survive. If this happened in the natural world in ancient Egypt, how much more in the spiritual do we really need to gather spiritual grain for the times coming up ahead.
