Cleansing of the Church

In the earliest days of the Church–probably only a few months after the great Pentecostal Outpouring–the Lord struck down two professing Christians for one sin: a lie.

In 1986, Kathy Gallagher helped her husband Steve found Pure Life Ministries, a ministry for men struggling with habitual sexual sin. Kathy soon found herself spending countless hours ministering to the hurting wives of these men, pointing them to Jesus and giving them hope through the very answers that worked for her. Each year hundreds of wives receive counseling through the counseling program she initiated for them years ago. Today, she administrates and produces video clips for the Eternal Weight website.

And if you ask many (perhaps most) Christians about the fear of the Lord, they will say “it doesn’t mean that, it means respect” which is not the least bit scriptural as we as in this verse. In Matthew 10:28 Jesus urges us “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” So to the “respecter doctrine” people I would ask this question: If two men were chopping on you with swords and slowly killing you, would you be experiencing “respect” towards them or fear”? Jesus says that his father will do far worse than that to the majority of people……..a very sad and scary, sobering thought……….but then the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and it has wonderful healing power if were preached…………and are we not all extraordinarily grateful that it is preached here at Eternal Weight……..with fire !!!
